Israel Downgrades British Consulate in East Jerusalem Amid Sanctions Dispute
After the UK imposed sanctions over settler violence against Palestinians and halted trade from Israeli settlements, Israel moved to close the British Consulate in East Jerusalem, and a last-minute deal reduced it to a smaller UK mission with much of the diplomatic staff withdrawn.
